Frank Matejov Jr., lovingly known as “Frank Da Tank,” entered eternal life on March 23, 2026, at the age of 76.
Frank was born on August 29, 1949, in Steyr, Austria, to Maria and Frank Matejov Sr. In 1951, he immigrated to the United States with his family, where the Matejovs built a close-knit life together. Frank and his eight siblings; Trudy (Bud) Pahlisch, Erika (Terry) Roemke, Ilsa Rich, Anna (Jim) Jaeger, Sandra Matejov, MaryAnn (Joe) Obenberger, Andrew Matejov, and Edward (Carol) Matejov; created traditions that continue to be cherished as the family grows. He shared a lifelong bond with his siblings, focused on "Family First", a shared history, and a deep connection with each other.
Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as part of the Seabees during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh and went on to have a long and successful career with Miller Electric, where he worked in purchasing and logistics.
Frank’s deep faith and belief in God were a source of strength and comfort to him. He focused on growing his faith, his love of the Gospel and especially enjoyed Pastor Dan’s Bible studies.
Above all, Frank will be remembered for the immense love he had for his family and the countless ways he showed it every day. Whether it was making his chicken soup when someone was sick, tracking flights to ensure loved ones arrived safely, or jumping in to help with a home project, he was always there. His kindness was perfectly balanced by a quick wit and signature smirk that brought laughter to those around him.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Christi (Brian) Picard and cherished son, Scott (Lan) Matejov. Frank had a special bond with his son-in-law and daughter-in-law. He adored his grandsons, Andrew, Reed, and Harrison, and found great joy in celebrating their individuality and creating meaningful moments with them.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the care teams at ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center, as well as the ER and ICU staff at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center. Your compassion, dedication, and support made a difficult time more bearable, and your care will never be forgotten.
Frank’s legacy of love, humor, and quiet acts of care will live on in all who knew him.
A service to honor Frank’s life will be held on Thursday, April 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 Glendale Avenue, Appleton, Wisconsin.
