Everett G. Steele

Everett G. Steele, 95, passed away on December 13, 2023. He was born in Saxon, WI, to George and Mabel Steele, on April 10, 1928. Everett served in the Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He then served as a firefighter at the Appleton Fire Department until 1983, then traveled around the county driving a tour bus until retiring in 1986. Everett married Neva in 1962, and they shared 29 years of marriage together until her passing.
Everett loved to play pool, and belonged to the Moose Lodge in Florida, even serving as president.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Neva Steele; son, Joseph Steele; parents, George and Mabel Steele; granddaughter, Jessica Wilke; and sisters, Ellen Weber, Charlotte Sunie, and Dorothy Herrick.
He is survived by his children, Jim (Gwenn) Steele and Julie (Scott) Belongea; grandchildren, MacKensie Rae, Elijah Francek, Geneva Steele, Samantha Belongea, and Becca Belongea; brother, Roy Steele; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for Everett on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St, Appleton. A visitation will be held prior from 12:30 PM to the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Friends of The Appleton Fire Department.
The family would like to thank the staff at Apple Creek and Compassus Hospice for their loving care of Everett.
