Eugene Plachinski, 79, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Silverstone Memory Care. Gene was born on September 15, 1945, to Edward and Marion (Ziemann) Plachinski in Cudahy. He attended Cudahy High School where he was an active member of the football team. He graduated in 1964 and was employed by Trinity Memorial Hospital where he entered the School of Radiologic Technology and graduated in 1967. Gene moved to Appleton where he became Chief of Radiology at Appleton Memorial Hospital. He then proceeded to launch the heart catheterization lab at AMC and then on to work in the open heart program for 40 years.
Gene married Marilyn Leist on November 18, 1967, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, in Manitowoc. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman, which he passed on to his son.
Gene is survived by his wife: Marilyn; son: Daniel (Vickie) Plachinski; two brothers: Edward (Joan) Plachinski and Arthur (Connie Chapnise) Plachinski; grandchildren: Amanda (Matt) Wendling and Haley (Justin) Limberg; other relatives and friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and beloved grandmother, Selma.
Funeral liturgy for Gene will be held at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, N2385 Municipal Drive, Greenville. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to your favorite charity.
