Ethel Luniak, age 91, of Kimberly, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the Gardenview in Menasha. She was born on December 22, 1920, in Greenville, the daughter of the late William and Theresa (Hein) Brux. On May 11, 1940, Ethel married Howard Luniak. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1993. Ethel retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital after many years of service in the cafeteria. She was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Parish and an active volunteer. Ethel was a member of the Kimberly Legion Auxiliary Unit 60. Many family and friends have the knitting, crocheting or embroidery items that she made for all. Ethel was a great cook and loved to bake. She loved to play cards, especially sheepshead. Her family meant the world to her!
Ethel is survived by her children: Joe (Joelene) Luniak, Menasha; Kathleen French, Appleton; Dorothy (Butch) Skalmusky, Kaukauna; Mary (Frank) Hall, Green Bay; Marge (Frank) Helander, Mechanicsville, Virginia; Ruth (Paul) Vosters, Appleton; Alice (Carl) Romenesko, Appleton; Rose (Jeff) Hermus, Appleton; Diane Luniak, Mukwonago; Barb (Jim) Koenig, De Pere; Julie (Steven) Kamps, Appleton and Ellen (Bob) Carney, Appleton; 34 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; her brother: Francis (Patricia) Brux; four sisters: Germaine Brockman; Betty (Ken) Van Dyke; Roberta Ramthun and Rosemary Berceau. She is further survived by five godchildren: Donald, Steve, Monica, Allyson and Sarah; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, Jay Luniak; brothers: Harlan (Dorothy) Brux and William (Mary) Brux; sister: Julia Schiedemeyer; brothers-in-law: Vilas Brockman, Arlo Ramthun and Romy Berceau.
The funeral liturgy for Ethel will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Holy Spirit/Holy Name Church, 620 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly. Fr. Jim Vanden Hogen will be officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Elizabeth Hospital are appreciated. Online condolences can be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
