Erma Hintz, 92, died peacefully on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at Appleton Medical Center surrounded by family. She was born on February 8, 1913 in New Holstein to the late Jacob and Margaret (Wick) Walber. On July 30, 1929, she married the late Erwin Hintz Sr. in New Holstein. She was employed by the Appleton Public School System. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Her favorite activities included arts and crafts, painting, rug braiding, gardening, playing cards and spending time at her cottage. Her many wonderful friends and family members added great joy to her post-retirement years. Erma's joyous and positive spirit lives on in her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Erwin Hintz Jr., Appleton, her daughter Bernette and son-in-law Eugene Schuh, DePere, her sister-in-law Armilla Walber, New Holstein, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Erwin on July 11, 1963, her sister Romilda and brother-in-law Joseph Jaeckels, her brothers Clement and Jerome Walber, her daughter Patricia Coenen and her daughter-in-law Patricia (Blick) Hintz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 22, 2005 at 11:00 am at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton with Fr. Donald Zuleger officiating. Internment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association appreciated.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Appleton Medical Center and the doctors and staff who cared for her as well as Hospice personnel.
