SPICE, ERIKA MARIA

Erika Maria Spice, age 57, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Erika was born on June 3, 1954, in Aschaffenburg, Germany, to the late Hubert and Florentina Heininger. She married Paul Spice on April 21, 1988, in Denmark. Erika was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and best friend. She was well-known for her love of animals–especially cats—and her saving nature to neighborhood strays. Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Paul; her daughter, Ilona (Marco) Scholz; her grandson, Marcel Scholz; her sisters, Gerlinde Huff (partner Todd Srnka) and Gabriele Berndt (fiancé Patrick Clark); and her brother, Walter Heininger. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Erika was preceded in death by her sisters, Margot Bilz and Doris Scheder; and her brother Franz Heininger. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Appleton, with Deacon Rick Simon officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of the Oncology Department at AMC and the staff of ThedaCare at Home Hospice for their loving care.
