Elroy Ehlert passed away peacefully at his home on July 19, 2013. He was born in Caroline, Wisconsin in 1926. After graduating from Marion High School, Elroy served in the United States Army during World War II. He spent most of his adult life employed by Giddings & Lewis.
Elroy enjoyed the challenge of any handy task. He loved helping others with projects, whether it be working on a car, a plumbing issue, or just about anything else that needed attention. His hobbies included cooking (potato pancakes were his specialty), woodworking, and fixing old clocks. He was an avid walker, and looked forward to his daily walks to Copp's to chat with employees, as well as residents he grew to know along the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Betty; and a son: Dennis. He is survived by his children: Donna, Mike (Lori), Mark (Katie), David (Deanna), Daniel, and a number of grandchildren. There will be a private memorial services.
