Elizabeth Mary Ring

Elizabeth M. Ring, age 85, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024. She was born to the late Loren and Sylvia Schumacher on May 18th, 1939. After Loren’s death, Frances Schmidlkofer married Sylvia and became Betsy’s loving father. Elizabeth attended St. Augustine’s grade school in Chilton, WI and then went on to Chilton High School. Elizabeth continued her education at St. Mary’s Nursing School in Milwaukee. After graduation, Elizabeth worked at Theda Clark as an R.N., where she met many good friends through the years. 

Elizabeth married Roy Ring in Chilton in May of 1964, and they spent 60 years together. Betsy and Roy enjoyed spending time at their cottage in Quinny on beautiful Lake Winnebago, spending many summers swimming, skiing and sailing. Betsy’s hobbies included needlepoint, collecting rooms of wool to knit beautiful sweaters for her family and collecting Polish pottery.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband Roy Ring, her children; John (Mary) Ring, Mary (DJ) Van Harpen, Anne (Dan) Sturm and Patrick (Ruth) Ring, her grandchildren; Katie (Sean) Navarro, Grace (Alex) Lehman, Maggie (Jon Enz) Sturm, Lizzy (Michael Montavlo) Van Harpen, Sydney Ring and Andrew Ring, her great granddaughter; Selah Navarro, and her two brothers; Joe Schumacher and James (Mary) Schmidlkofer.

A memorial mass for Elizabeth will take place at 11:00am Saturday August 10, 2024, at Saint Mary's of the Seven Dolors, 120 Davis Street, Stockbridge. Friends and family may gather at the church from 9:00am until 10:45am.
