Elizabeth "Betty" Jansen

January 12, 1923 — January 7, 2015

Elizabeth “Betty” Jansen, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. She was born in 1923, in California, to the late Henry W. and Olive (Probst) Hupfauf. On September 2, 1947, Betty married Archie Jansen at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Darboy, and together they raised their five children. Throughout her life, Betty enjoyed spending time with family, relatives and friends and volunteering her time. Betty showed her interest in the wellbeing of her relatives and friends through her phone calls and prayers. In addition to caring for family, she was a main caretaker for her mother and aunt and uncle in their later years. When she worked at Prange's, she established lifelong friendships and liked to talk about her lunches with the “Prange Girls.” In her later years, she volunteered at the grade school where she was happy helping the children with their reading.

Betty was an active member at St. Paul Catholic Church and volunteered her time for church activities and for many years enjoyed walking to church for Mass. Also, as she knew many of the sisters at Sisters of St. Francis she visited them often. She was also interested in traveling, current events, crafts, gardening, and watching Packer games.

Betty is survived by her children: Ronald (Patricia) Jansen of Kimberly, Diane Jansen of Madison, Dennis Jansen of Grand Chute, and Susan Jansen of Chicago; grandchildren, Darrick (Keri) Jansen and Jessica (Todd) Finch; granddaughter-in-law, Amy Jansen; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Ariya, Nathaniel, Cole, Evan, Alex, Skye, Emily, Anthony, Sam, and Brooklyn; sisters: Arline Kasten, Sister Paulette Hupfauf, Alice Lindberg; sister-in-law, Debbie Hupfauf. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Archie Jansen; son, James Jansen; infant daughter; grandson, Todd Jansen; brothers, Donald and Henry Hupfauf; sister, LaVerne Mader Van Rossum; and brothers-in-law, Arlon Mader, Louis Van Rossum, Leonard Kasten, and Thomas Lindberg.

The funeral liturgy for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2015, at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street, Combined Locks, with Fr. Andrew Kysely officiating. A time of visitation will be held at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, American Heart Association, or a charity of your choice are appreciated.

A special thanks to family and friends for their support during these last years and to the staff at St. Paul's Home for their excellent care of Betty and their helpfulness, friendliness and courtesy. Betty will live on in the memories of all who knew her.
