Age 82, passed away at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna on Thursday, January 26, 2012. He was born in Spirit, WI on March 13, 1929 the son of the late David and Hulda (Peterson) Ritzman. On October 18, 1955 he married Lavonne Heiting at St. Anne Catholic Church in Stanley, WI. Ed worked as a farm hand in the Shiocton area and was then drafted into the Army, serving in Korea and Guam, in the 822nd Combat Engineering Battalion. He worked for Eggers Industries for 37 years, worked part-time at Konz Wood Products for 20 years, and also maintenance at Medal Products. He loved the outdoors, gardening, cutting/splitting wood and going up North. Ed will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his Christian values, and love for his family.
Ed is survived by his wife, Lavonne; children: Jeff (Julie) Ritzman of Appleton, Donna (Gary) Giles of Grand Chute, Greg (Cheryl) Ritzman of Chelsea, OK, Gloria (Ted) Banker of Knoxville, TN, and Kevin (Anne) Ritzman of Appleton; 12 grandchildren: Jaclyn and Joshua Ritzman; Angela (Paulo) de Moraes, Aaron (Erin) Giles, Jon Giles; Matthew Ritzman, Keri (Steven) Fuller; Morgan, Weston and Tommy Banker; Soundarya and Reena Ritzman; four great-grandchildren: Isabela, Ana Clara, Gabriel, Adison, and two on the way; sister, Dorothy Siemsen; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Freda and Florence; nieces; Bonnie Engel and Alice Braden; grandnephew, Troy Muska; and brothers-in-law: Herb Muska and Wilbur Siemsen.
The funeral liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton with Fr. Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton.
The family extends a sincere thank you to Dr. Nicole Brady and Dr. Ann Marie Gierl, and the staff at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, for their love, care and support.
A memorial fund in Ed's name is being established.
