Edward Masak Jr

Edward Masak Jr, age 85, of Appleton, formerly of St Pete Beach, FL; Land O' Lakes, WI, Niagara, WI; Niagara Falls, NY; and Munising MI; passed away at Heritage Woods in Appleton, April 29, 2016 after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Ed was born May 5, 1930, in Cleveland, OH, to Edward and Caroline (Bilek) Masak Sr. His early years were spent with family and obtaining the level of Eagle Scout in Cleveland, OH. He graduated from John Adams High School in 1948. His Bachelor Degree in Science was obtained at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, OH, after attending and transferring from Case Western Reserve University. He furthered his studies at Purdue University. He met the love of his life, Grace Annette Duchow, through mutual friends while attending Heidelberg University. Edward and Grace were married on June 6, 1953 in Potter, WI. They spent their early years moving to various place for Ed's positions with Kimberly-Clark before settling in Appleton. He retired from Kimberly-Clark as a Mill Manager, in 1988, after 35 years of service. Ed enjoyed golfing, fishing, a friendly game of poker, trivia, camping trips, fishing and going to their summer home in Land O'Lakes WI and their winter home in St. Pete Beach, FL, as well as water skiing until age 68. Ed was dedicated to his community being involved with Our Savior's Lutheran Church (Appleton), Cub Scout Master and the Rotary Club. In his later years Ed was an avid wood carver and water color painter, but most of all Ed loved spending his time with his family.
Survivors include his four sons, Mark (Pamela) Masak, Jeff (Katy) Masak, John (Connie) Masak, and Greg (Susan) Masak; 7 grandchildren: Scott (Bri) Masak, Andrew (Caitlin) Masak, David Masak; Lauren Masak, Reid Masak; Heidi Merrill and Aaron (Randi Lynn) Merrill; 4 great-grandchildren: Maximilian, Greta, Ava and Jayce; and one sister: Carol (Max) Bohnstedt. Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Grace of 53 years, his parents, as well as many other loved ones.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Wichmann-Fargo Funeral Home, 1592 Oneida Street, Menasha WI 54952. Visitation from 10 to 11 AM, Memorial Service at 11 AM. Rev. Dennis Ellison presiding.
