Earl G. Asman

October 8, 1915 — June 29, 2003

Age, 87 died unexpectedly on June 29, 2003 at his home. He was born October 8, 1915 in Appleton, son of the late August and Gertrude (Wolf) Asman. He was a 1934 graduate of Appleton Senior High School. Earl married Margaret Deno on April 29, 1937 and was employed as a machinist by Valmet (formerly Appleton Machine Company) for forty-three years. He was an Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II with the 3702nd Army Air Forces Base Unit at Buckley Field, Colorado. Earl was a resident of Kaukauna since 1947. He was a God-fearing, loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Earl loved people, and always had a warm smile for family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and especially children whenever he met them. He was a very talented and patient man and was always ready with a joke or story of the "old days". He was always willing to help fix anything. He was so proud and happy to be able to attend his last grandchild’s graduation ceremony on June 5, 2003 at Appleton West High School. Earl was a wonderful example for all of us and he will be missed by the countless people that he touched.

Earl is survived by four children: Elaine (Gordon) Guse of Ontario, Canada; Mark (Judy) Asman of Kaukauna; Sherry (Doug) Bennett of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Linda (Tim) Sassman of Appleton; twelve grandchildren: April (Chuck) Fichthorn, Kevin (Leitha) Guse, Philip (Tricia) Guse, Brent (Carole) Guse, Peter Asman, Lee Ann (Tony) LyndonRacho, David (Heather) Bennett, Jonathan (Beverlie) Bennett, Nathan Bennett, Andrew Sassman, Carrie Sassman, and Heather Sassman; seventeen great-grandchildren: Ben, Jordan and Bethany Fichthorn; Kayla, Jenna, Hannah and Rebecca Guse; Abbigail, Alexzandra, Caleb and Annabelle Guse; Ryan and Jesse Guse; Shane and Xander LyndonRacho; Austin Bennett; Ashley and Elizabeth Bennett; four sisters-in-law: Effie Asman, Geraldyne (Sis) Asman, Laura Belongia, and Gertrude (William) Nagel; and a brother-in-law Harry Porter. Earl is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers Roy Asman and David Asman, a sister Verlee Porter, a nephew, Joe Porter, his wife's sisters Alfa (Nick) Esler and Edna (Gust) Fosberg, and Margaret’s brother-in-law Lawrence Belongia.

Funeral services for Earl will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 3, 2003 at CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH, W1250 Highway 96 in Kaukauna with Rev. James Grosse officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 – 7 PM and again at the church on Thursday from 10 AM until the hour of the services. A memorial fund is being established for the Calvary Baptist Church.
