Douglas Scott Vandenberg

Douglas Scott Vandenberg, age 46, went into the loving, comforting arms of Jesus who relaxed his anxious heart on Wed, August 14th, 2024. Doug was born on Nov 20th, 1977, to Alvin and Beverly (Jaeger) Vandenberg. He resided in Appleton all his life and graduated from Appleton East High School. He worked for many years at Valley Packaging. 

He was a caring, loving and prayerful person always concerned about others' well-being and praying for them. His smile was infectious, and he always had a positive attitude and outlook on life. There was not a person Doug wouldn’t go up to get a “high five” or “fist bump” from. 

Doug absolutely loved being an uncle, fondly known as Uncle Douger-D and watching his nieces and nephews play sports being their #1 cheerleader. His greatest passion was going to and watching the Green Bay Packers as well as watching movies, Bucks and Brewers play on tv. Some of his best memories were trips and times at the family cottage in Waupaca. Surviving Doug is his mother Bev Vandenberg, sisters Christine (Jeff Abitz) Vandenberg and Kay (James) Huggins, brother Jeff (Gail Carrick) Vandenberg and brother-in-law Todd Berg and his nephews and nieces Tyler, Austin and Lauren Huggins, and Noah, Callie and Owen Berg and Ella Vandenberg. 

He was preceded in death by his father Alvin Vandenberg and sister Carol Berg, and grandparents Harry and Mary Vandenberg and Walter and Dorthy Jaeger. 

Visitation on Friday, August 23 from 9-11am at St Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E Lourdes Dr, Appleton, WI 54915 followed by mass at 11am. 

In lieu of flowers, a donation on Doug’s behalf can be made to NAMI- Fox Valley, National Alliance for Mentally Ill. 

Doug’s family wishes to thank St Paul Elder’s Service and their staff for the love and care they showed and provided Doug and his family during his stay there and attending Club Gabriel.
