Dorothy M. Schabo (nee Nowak)

September 15, 1925 — November 7, 2013

Dorothy M. Schabo, age 88, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord at home on November 7, 2013. Dorothy was born on September 15, 1925, in Greenville, the fourth child of the late Robert and Alvina (Norenberg) Nowak. She was received into Christ's Kingdom of Grace through Holy Baptism on October 4, 1925, at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Greenville. After being instructed in the truths of God's word, she was also confirmed at Immanuel on September 4, 1938. On May 10, 1947, she married Archie Schabo at St. Paul Lutheran Church and they enjoyed 66 years together.

Dorothy was employed by Kimberly Clark after graduating from Appleton High School. After marrying Archie, she stayed home to devote her time to raising their four children. She later worked for Grant's Department Store. Dorothy was involved in many volunteer activities through the years. She was a project leader with the Wide Awake Forward 4-H Club while her children were active in the club. She and Archie were volunteers at Rennes Health and Rehab Center, doing the monthly cook-outs for the residents. Dorothy also enjoyed taking both local and extended bus tours with Archie and some of their friends. Her favorite trip was to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She also loved the Sunday afternoon family drives, traveling the rustic roads of Wisconsin.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Archie; four children: Steven Schabo of Menominee, Michigan; Susan (Richard) Marwitz of Lansing, Illinois; Brenda (Jeffrey) Ings of Appleton; and Gail Schabo of Appleton; her four grandchildren, Lisa Sypniewski; Peter (Danielle) Marwitz; Michael (Corinne) Marwitz; and Matthew Marwitz; nine great grandchildren: Tyler, Makenzie, Madison, Megan, Molly, Arianna, Michael Jr., Mason, Samantha and Baby Boy due next April. She is further survived by one sister, June Van Dera; as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. She had a great love for her family and she will be missed by all. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Vernon; and her sisters, Florence Kaskavage, Hilda Hansen, Velda Miller and Evelyn Hansen.
