Dorothy M. Brauer

Dorothy M. Brauer, age 85 of Appleton passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 20, 2025. Dorothy was born in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 27, 1939, daughter of the late Tony and Peg Vanderloop. At an early age, the family moved to the Appleton area and Dorothy graduated from Appleton High School with the class of 1957. Dorothy married the love of her life, Jack Brauer, on May 2, 1959, and together they raised two wonderful children. They celebrated sixty-four wonderful years together until Jack’s death in 2024.

Dorothy enjoyed traveling with Jack, spending time at their lake home, working puzzles, reading, and spoiling her cat, Gracie. Many will remember Dorothy for her many years of working as a teller at Valley Bank in Appleton.

She is survived by her children: Doug (Linda) Brauer and Linda (Joe) Meissner. Her grandchildren are Melissa (Alex) Zabel, Ashley (Anthony Daniels) Brauer, Arin (Mike Hanson) Meissner, Trevor (Estee Wilmsen) Meissner, Mara Meissner; two sisters: Mary (John) Morelli, An (Ralph) Gehrmann; in-laws: Ed Mauthe and Char (Ed) Porath, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack in 2024, and her sister Joan Mauthe.

Visitation for Dorothy will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Wichmann Funeral Home, located at 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. Dorothy will be placed at rest with her husband Jack at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
