Doris Ann (nee Heimerman) Kettner Weyers passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at her home in Appleton, Wisconsin. 

Doris was born January 6, 1931, the tenth of thirteen children of the late Jacob and Margaret (“Gretchen” Winters) Heimerman at Johnsburg, WI.  Two years later the family moved to Appleton, where Doris attended St. Therese Grade School and Appleton West High School.  She married Donald Kettner October 1, 1949 and moved to Kaukauna in 1951.  They had four children.  After Donnie died in 1967, Doris married John Weyers June 8, 1970, and in 1972 added another child to her family. Doris also cared for three foster daughters in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

Doris worked for the City of Appleton, the Wisconsin Industrial Commission, the Wisconsin Department of Taxation, Thomas Publishing, Prange’s, Badger Northland, Houseware Outlets, and Central Wisconsin Rehab Association (Med Rehab).  She also handled affairs for her sister Mary Jane and mother-in-law Mildred in their final years.

Doris is survived by her husband, John; her children, Linda Tucker of Mequon, WI,  Barbara (Ron) Blair of Rome, WI, James (Karen) Kettner of Spring Hill, FL, Lisa (Joseph) Hatchell of Sussex, WI, and Jonathan (Sarah) Weyers of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren, Boima (Tamara) Tucker, Jeneba Tucker, Melissa (David) Blair-Espin, Benjamin (Megan) Blair, Angela (Michael) Stueland, Vicky Kettner, Chris Richardson, Ryan (Eryn) Hatchell, Eric (Teri) Hatchell, Caley (Nick) Hincak, Jeffrey Weyers, Sydney Weyers; great-grandchildren Jair John & Jamilah  Tucker, Mya & Jade Polley, Nolan & Ethan Blair, Madison, Adelyn, Ella, & Lawson Stueland, Owen, Joselyn, Allison, & Lauren Hatchell, Henry, Miles, & Leo Hatchell; sister, Joyce (Ray) Lake; and sister-in-law, Marianne Heimerman.

She is also survived by Donnie’s family, Lorraine Kettner, Marlene Kettner, Kenneth (Arliss) Kettner, Jean Molitor, Chris Lison;  John’s family:  Patricia (Richard) Paulik, Joan Mielke, Thomas (Annette) Weyers, Kathy (Jim) Lawnczak, Lyle (Jeannie) Weyers, Lois Horsens, Ann (James) Timmers, Sister Margie Weyers, Theresa (Tom) Hannah, Steve (Paula) Weyers; as well as nieces and nephews too numerous to count.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Doris was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Alex Tucker; her siblings and their spouses, Donald Heimerman, Rita (Peter) Mueller, Peter (Rose) Heimerman, Ceil (Roger) Goerl, Florian (Georgiana) Heimerman, Leroy, (Marie and Pauline) Heimerman, Eugene (Alice) Heimerman, Tess (Cliff) Wilson, Jerome Heimerman, Mary Jane (Edward) Heuring, James (Nancy and Karen) Heimerman and Dennis Heimerman;  Donnie’s parents, Michael and Eleanor Kettner; Donnie's siblings and spouses, Jerold (Mary Jane) Kettner, Dorothy (Matt) Hoffman, Carl Kettner, Thomas Kettner, Paul (Paula) Kettner and Nancy Lison; John’s parents, Tony and Ted Weyers,  John's siblings and in-laws,  Michael Weyers, Anthony “Bimbo” Weyers, Russell Mielke, Michael Vieau, Kevan Horsens and Diana Weyers.

A Visitation for Doris will be held from 5-8 PM on Monday, February, 13, 2023 at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton, WI 54911, with Rev. Mr. Mark Farrel officiating a Vigil Service at 7 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Doris at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, WI 54911 by Rev. Fr. Ray Stadmeyer, O.F.M., Cap.  Family and friends may visit at the church from 9 AM to the time of the Mass.  Doris will be laid to rest next to her first husband, Donnie, in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, 1201 Buchanan Rd. Kaukauna, WI.

The family wants to thank John for his compassionate and loving dedication given to Doris. In addition, they wish to extend their gratitude to all the caregivers and hospice volunteers who provided assistance to Doris over the recent years, helping her to continue living a dignified life, despite Alzheimer’s.

Please leave a special message or condolences for Doris' family. A portion of memorials gifted to them will be donated to dear charities of their choosing, such as Fox Valley Memory Project, in her memory.
