Donna M. Schmidt, 93, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Appleton Medical Center.
Donna was born on July 17, 1916 to the late Max and Anna (Knaack) Eggert in Appleton. She married Wilmer Schmidt on March 30, 1940 at Trinity Lutheran Church and was a life long member of the Church. She was a sports fan, and loved to cheer for her Packers and Brewers and she also enjoyed singing and playing cards. Donna loved her family and it was very important to her, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren was always very special. Donna is survived by 3 children Jerry (Joan) Schmidt, Oconto Falls, Beverly (Henry “Butch”) Yunk, Menasha, Sharon (Dave) Brodzinski, Oshkosh, 8 grandchildren, Lisa Schmidt, Rick (Kathy) Schmidt, Renee Vander Wielen, Dr. Darrell (Julie) Yunk, Dawn (Greg) Gohlke, Andy (special friend Leslie Jacobson) Wilharms, Katie (Iain) Campbell, Michael (Kim Stammer) Wilharms, step–grandchildren, Aprile (Brett) Wilson, William Dollevoet, Karen (Tim) Thompson, Jill (Jason) Briederman, and Kelly (Travis) Berrell, 5 great-grandchildren Devin Schmidt, Shae Schmidt, Robyn Vander Wielen, Ashlynn Stammer and Conner Gohlke, and step-great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, Kassidy Vander Wielen, and step-great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends Esther and Shirley. Donna was preceded in death by her husband Wilmer on February 10, 1976, granddaughter Jean Marie Wilharms, brothers and sisters, Marguerite (John) Swinkles, Irma (E. James) Reese, Harold (Edna) Eggert, Norman “Baldy” (Dorothy) Eggert, Robert (Gladys) Eggert, and Melvin Eggert.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 11 am at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH (209 S. Allen St.) with Pastor Mary Beth and Pastor Kurt Kovanen officiating. Friends may call on Friday, from 10 am until the time of service at the Church. Private burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in Donna's name. The family would like to thank Mom's caregivers at Good Shepherd Home, Fox River Assisted Living, Appleton Medical Center and Theda Care Hospice for all the wonderful care she received and a special thanks and sincere appreciation to Pastor Kurt and Chaplain Krueger for their wonderful support.
