Donna Baerenwald, age 90, passed quietly while resting on January 23, 2023. Donna was born in Appleton, on October 13, 1932, daughter of the late Raymond and Hilda (Heinz) Kunstman. As a young woman she worked a couple different jobs in town, and on August 30, 1952, married Harold Baerenwald; he preceded her in death in 2010.
Donna was a charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and a lifelong choir member. She was a stay-at-home mom and Girl Scout Leader for both of her daughters. An excellent seamstress, she sewed her own wedding dress as well as her daughter Karen’s. Donna was an avid Packer fan and never missed watching a game. She especially enjoyed camping and traveling with her family and her favorite hobby was going to flea markets, thrift shops, and yard sales. Donna will always be remembered for how selfless and warm-hearted she was.
Donna leaves behind two daughters: Ginger (Mitch) Kobussen and Karen (Tony) Zachowski; four grandchildren: Keri Kobussen, Kimberly Kobussen, Beau Zachowski, and Kaelyn Zachowski; and a sister-in-law: Marion Gruenstern.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, and a brother, Raymond Kunstman, Jr.
A memorial service for Donna will be held on Saturday, January 28th at 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, located at 2330 E. Calumet Street in Appleton. Rev. Roger McQuistion and Rev. Jennifer DeNetz will lead the service and a private burial will take place at a later date at Highland Memorial Park. Visitation for Donna will be held directly at the church on Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 AM. A memorial fund is being established to honor Donna’s memory.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Little Chute Health Services for their loving care.
We love you “a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck.”
