Donald Robert "Masher" Meyer

Donald R. Meyer, 81, was called peacefully to the arms of his Savior on Monday, January 31, 2022, surrounded by his loving family and Pastor Raasch. He was born on October 9, 1940, in Milwaukee, the son of Daniel and Florence (Isler) Meyer. Donald graduated from Appleton High School, the Class of 1959. He was a member of the Magnificent Seven, a group of high school friends. This is where Don acquired the nickname, Masher. Donald was united in marriage to Helen Marie Behnke on September 15, 1962, at Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. Don was a faith-filled man who was very active over the years with Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church, as an usher, on the church council, and the Tuesday morning Bible class.

Donald is survived by his wife, Helen; two sons: Wes (Cynthia) and Wayne (Tammy) Meyer; grandchildren: Morgan (Andrew), Mason, Maia, Vincent, Emily (Josh), Anna, Katie (Tommy), Lauren (Adam), and David (Erin); a great grandchild: Ivy; a sister: Susan; other relatives and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents.

A Christian memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church, 930 E. Florida Ave., Appleton, with Rev. Robert Raasch officiating, and will be Livestreamed via his obituary page at www.wichmannfuneralhomes.com. The visitation will be on Friday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church or Fox Valley Lutheran High School.

Donald’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Oakridge Gardens and ThedaCare at Home and Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and care given to Don.
