Donald L. Vorpahl

Donald L. Vorpahl, age 87 peacefully passed away on January 11th, 2021 with family at his side. Donald was born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Harvey and Alice Vorpahl. He studied music from a young age and earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Lawrence University. Following graduation, he studied journalism in Madison, where he met the love of his life, his wife Lenore. Don and Lynn enjoyed 58 years of marriage and raised three children, Kristin (Jim), David (Kristin) and Amy (Clayton).

Don worked for Lawrence University and the Banta Company before channeling his love of nature into his own business in Environmental Design and Native Landscape Design. Don also continued to use his musical talents to serve the church as the organist and choirmaster at First Presbyterian Church in Neenah for nearly 25 years. Don loved music, the arts, good humor, nature, gardening, and travel. He was a voracious reader and he was passionate about fly fishing and backpacking. He excelled at encouraging others to see and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.

Don was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Lenore, his three children, grandchildren (Benjamin, Alexander, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Jonathan and James) and several special grand puppies (including beloved Gabby).

Due to the current COVID situation, a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family requests that any memorial donations are given to Lawrence University (https://www.lawrence.edu/s/giving), Heartland Hospice Care of Green Bay (https://heartlandhospicefund.org/donate/) or the Nature Conservancy (https://support.nature.org/site/Donation2?df_id=10420&10420.donation=form1)

The family would like to extend special thanks to Heartland Hospice and Brewster Village for their support during Don’s end of life journey.
