Donald Lee Hauser, age 80, passed away on October 9. 2024 at ThedaCare Appleton. Don was born to the late Harold and Anna (Winters) Hauser on July 8, 1944, in Green Bay, WI. Don grew up in Appleton with his many siblings where he was barely the “big brother” to the two youngest children Carl and Carol. He graduated from Appleton West High School, and upon graduating he worked a variety of jobs until beginning work at then Appleton Medical Center assisting with cleaning patient rooms and other tasks.
In the mid 90’s Don met Pam Jorstad and the two shared a special bond. During his time with Pam, he became a bonus dad (and eventually bonus grandpa) to Pam’s daughters Jessi and Katie. Later in life, Don and his sister Joyce cared lovingly for their mom Ann while she resided at Brewster Village.
Don loved oldies style music and Elvis was one of his absolute favorites. His nightly post on Facebook regarding his musical selections for the evening was something friends looked forward to seeing. Don was a “big kid” at heart and he just loved to crawl in the kids toys at Funset Boulevard, and once fell off of hay bales at Cuff’s Pumpkin Patch-much to the chagrin of Katie and her family!
Don loved sports. He played quarterback for the West football team and loved to watch the (cough) Vikings and eventually succumbed and became a closet Packer fan. He also enjoyed taking trips to see the sights in various states.
Don is survived by his sister Carol (Jack) Losse and his brother Carl Hauser. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters: Delores (Eugene) Schreiter, Lois (Douglas) Schmuhl, Joyce Sankowsky, David Hauser, and Gerald who died as an infant; as well as sister-in-law Linda Hauser.
A funeral service for Don will take place on Monday October 21, 2024, at 1:00pm at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N Superior Street, Appleton. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 11:00am until the service begins. Following the service, Don will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.
