Donald B. Hogan, age 87, of Appleton, passed away at his home on Monday, April 16, 2012. Don was born on June 16, 1924, in Clintonville, to the late Bernard and Gertrude (Dahm) Hogan. He married Elizabeth Schroeder on June 5, 1948, in Clintonville; she preceded him in death on June 10, 2004. Don was a well-known educator. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a Bachelors degree in Industrial Education in 1954, later graduating with advanced degrees from the University of Illinois, the University of Michigan the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee. He taught at Muskegon, Michigan, and then was the Administrator of Gateway Technical Institute in Kenosha for 27 years, retiring on July 31, 1987. Don was a member of St. Mary's Usher Society, Vice-Chairman of the Kenosha Teachers Credit Union, the Kenosha County Task Force, the CETA Advisory Committee and the “Project Reentry” of the Urban League. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII and was a life-member of the Disabled American Veterans. Don was a longtime member of the Reid Golf Course and was a regular on the links. He was also a member of the Elks Club, was an accomplished woodworker and carpenter, and was an avid Packer fan. Survivors include his daughter, Cynde Hogan; his grandchildren, Royce (Brandy) Hogan; Domaneek (Gregory) Ford-Williams; Jesye (Jamila) Franklin; Jazmyne (Desmond) Futrell and Klayton Franklin; and his five great grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters, Delores Quidoz and Darlene Taylor; his brother, Douglas Hogan; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy (Harry) Anderson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael, sister and five brothers. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012, at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 E. Lourdes Drive, Appleton, with Fr. Donald Zulger officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in St. Rose Cemetery in Clintonville. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Paul Thiel, Don's long-time golfing companion and friend, and Dr. A. A.
