Obituary

Donald Montonati, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children, on February 12, 2026. He was born on January 11, 1933, to his late parents Raymond and Lucille (Gerrits) Montonati.

Don was born and raised in the Menasha area. He attended St. Mary grade school and graduated from St. Mary High School. A year after high school, he went to work for Kimberly-Clark for about a year before he joined the United States Air Force and served his country proudly for 4 years. He was stationed in Japan for 3 years and that was one of his favorite experiences. Upon his return, Donald met the love of his life… Yvonne Zoromski (daughter of Alex and Emily Zoromski). Donald and Yvonne were married in Galloway, WI on May 17, 1958. They were married for 55 years until Yvonne’s passing in 2013. Together they raised 5 children.

He was a devoted member of the St. Patrick parish. After retirement Yvonne and Don volunteered at St. Patrick’s. Don also volunteered at St. Joe’s food pantry. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a Green Bay Packer fan and a fan of the game show channel. He was also quite fond of a good martini.

Donald is survived by his children: Terry (Linda) Montonati, Mary (Michael) Davel, Gail (Scott) Stewart, Tina Montonati; grandchildren: Tony (Kelly) Montonati, Brian (Sara) Montonati, Catherine Montonati, Matthew (Lindsay) Davel, Katelyn (Matt) Holstead, Andrea Davel, Coreen Gambsky, Emily (Charlie Hernandez) Wettstein, Tara Prahl, Rebecca Montonati, Andrew Krueger, Alex Krueger; 28 great grandchildren; siblings in law: Sylvia Zoromski, Sister Mary Elrita, Judy Lavicka, Darlene Zoromski, Joyce Zoromski, and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Yvonne, daughter Tammy Montonati, siblings: Rosemary (George) Tremmel, AnnaMae Madory, Richard Montonati, Judy Weiss; siblings in law: Robert Zoromski, Ralph (Jeanne) Zoromski, Phyllis (Curt)(Dale Dexter) Magiary, Alois Zoromski, Richard Lavicka, Jerome Zoromski.

There will be a funeral service on February 27, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church – 324 Nicolet Blvd. Menasha WI 54952. Visitation will be from 9am to 11am with the service starting at 11am.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the ThedaCare hospice nurse Beth for taking such good care of Don.
