Denis Deno

July 10, 1942 — January 20, 2024

Menasha

Denis Deno, age 81, passed away peacefully on the family farm surrounded by his loving children on January 20, 2024. Denis was born on July 10, 1942, son of the late Lester and Elenora (Harder) Deno.  He continued the legacy of hard work set by his grandfather and father as he dedicated himself to the family dairy farm.

Denis enjoyed raising pigeons, often pointing them out on the road or in neighboring silos, always concerned whether they had been fed or not. Through most of his farming years, draft horses were used for a majority of the field work. Denis continued to admire working horses even as farming machinery changed.  Horse pulls and Amish auctions were part of his weekend activities.

Denis also enjoyed the outdoors.  He could be found hunting squirrel and deer on his land in Michigan.  Denis enjoyed gathering hickory nuts that he would later crack during the winter months while seated in front of a blaring television.  The way to his heart was through hickory nut cake.

He was a lifelong member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church.  It was in the church basement where he learned the sport of dartball.  Denis, also known as “2 dart Denis” was repeatedly named as MVP. Dartball was a fun activity shared with his family and friends.

Denis was a man of few words who lived by his faith in his Savior.  He honored the Lord through his hard work, caring for all of Gods creations, and fiercely loving and cherishing his family.

He is survived by his son: John (Celeste) Deno; his daughter: Cynthia “Cindy” (Thomas) Perovich; grandchildren: John Jacob Deno, Glenn (Fiancée Megan Haber) Perovich, and Joshua, Solomon, and Delilah Perovich.  He is further survived by his brothers: Dale (Eunie) Deno and Kevin (Joan) Deno; sisters-in-laws: Ruth Reichelt and Linda Diedrich: as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and his church family.

Denis was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife Eileen.
