Delores “Dee Dee” D. Thompson, age 93, passed away on July 27, 2025, at Brewster Village in Appleton. She was born on October 4, 1931, to the late Adloph and Margaret (Longrie) Dorschner in New London, WI. She learned to work hard on the farm at an early age and continued that work ethic throughout her life.
On June 10, 1950, she married Glenn, the love of her life and the two shared 69 years together until his passing in 2009. They had two children whom they raised in Appleton. Delores and Glenn provided for their family thanks to the dutiful bookkeeping done by Delores.
Delores was a long-time employee at Memorial Florist in Appleton and participated in many floral contests. She used her creativity to brighten the days and lives of those around her. She loved gardening and tending her flower beds at home. Glenn was her loving support who “made things happen” in setting up the gardens. She and Glenn won “The best flower garden in the Fox Cities“ garden walk and participated multiple times. She spent winters caring for her transplanted flowers in the basement. Her other hobbies included embroidering dish towels, framed jewelry art and making wreaths.
Delores loved music and dancing. She and Glenn were excellent at jitterbug. So much was their love of music and dance, that they hosted dance parties at their home . Delores was truly the “hostess with the mostest” and was a pro at throwing great theme parties for their friends and birthday parties for their children. Delores’ hair always had to be “just right” before leaving the house.
Delores is survived by her children: Chuck (Linda) Thompson and Kathy (Steve) Buss; grandchildren: Jessica (Adam) Vishy, Andy (Christie) Buss, Matthew (Jayson Speters) Thompson and Eric Buss; great grandchildren: Joseph, Thomas, Daniel, Rosemary, and Harris. She is further survived by her siblings: Jackie Draheim, Shirley Brown, Sara (Paul) Laubenstein, Sandy (Ken) Carew, Terry (Mary) Dorschner and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, her parents Adolph and Margaret, brother Darrell Dorschner as well as brothers and sisters-in-law: Marlin Brown, Bob Draheim, Jack (Cleo) Thompson, Bob (Barb) Thompson, Jean (Joe) Santkuyl and Guy (Erma) Thompson.
Funeral services will take place on Friday August 8, 2025, at 11:00am at St Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E Lourdes Dr, Appleton. Friends and family may gather at the church from 9:00am until the mass begins. Delores will join Glenn at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
