Dawn Lee Swiontek

April 23, 1949 — August 15, 2022

Neenah

Dawn Swiontek (nee Luckow), 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2022, at her home with her family by her side following a valiant battle with cancer. She was born on April 23, 1949 in Neenah, the daughter of Kenneth and Lorraine (Sharpley) Luckow. Dawn graduated from Menasha High School in 1967. She was united in marriage to Tony Swiontek on June 26,1971. Before her retirement, Dawn worked at Wisconsin Tissue Mills for 38 years.

Dawn will be most remembered for her witty sense of humor and for her generosity. Dawn made chocolate chip cookies and shared them with family and friends.

She crocheted hundreds of beautiful blankets throughout her life. Her specialty was baby blankets so if she heard of even a distant expecting friend or relative, she would gift one of her creations to the family. Another of Dawn’s hobbies was card-making. She spent endless hours creating birthday and holiday cards... most people reading this have probably received at least one of her works of art over the years. For over 40 years, Dawn and her family enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Lake Lucerne in Crandon, WI. Surrounded by neighbor friends that became family, the cottage became her “happy place.” It was there that she cultivated her love for birds, especially hummingbirds. All year round, she enjoyed watching the different types of birds that visited her many feeders. Dawn was known to have quite a “green thumb” when it came to gardening. She loved to plant both flowers and vegetables. Most of all, Dawn was passionate about family. She and Tony celebrated 51 years of marriage in June. Dawn adored her grandchildren. She spent as much time with them as she could, showering them with gifts, care packages, surprises, and most of all with her loving hugs and kisses.

Dawn is survived by her husband: Anthony; children: Brad (Julie) Swiontek and Samantha (Guhan) Iyer; grandchildren: Morgan (Eduardo) Moreno, Lauren Scheffler and her son Beau, Alex Swiontek, Eleanor and Charlie Iyer; brother: Larry (Doris) Wolf; many nieces and nephews, friends, and her beloved dog, Piper.

Dawn was preceded in death by her parents: Kenneth and Lorraine (Sharpley) Luckow; brother Ronald and sister-in-law Mary Wolf; sisters: Connie Bauer, Gail Rieskamp, and Kerrin Luckow.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 2nd St. Menasha, WI with Rev. Fr. Michael Lightner officiating. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the Mass.
