David Gene Thompson, age 73, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, at Parkview Nursing Home, Oshkosh. He was born June 30, 1953, in Neenah WI, to the late Richard and June (Nelson) Thompson. Following high school David entered the US Army. He then returned to his hometown and began a family. Later in his life he married Kim Holewinski on February 20, 1993.

David and Kim spent hours at the 206 Club, and they made many wonderful friends. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Dave had many apple trees, and he enjoyed working around them. People often called him “Apple Dave” while his grandkids called him “Grandpa Apples.”

He is survived by his children: Jeremiah (Tara) Thompson, Amanda Thompson, Danielle (Lawrence) Harris; his grandchildren; siblings: Barb (Joe) Schraven, Terry Thompson, jeff (Debbie) Thompson, Dennis Thompson, John (Jackie) Thompson as well as other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years Kim, his parents, and siblings Mike Thompson and Pauline Thompson.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00am, on Tuesday September 29, 2026, at Wichmann Funeral Home-Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee St, Menasha. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 10:00 until  the service begins. Dave will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
