Alverson, David R.
David Ross Alverson, age 80, passed away on November 15, 2009. He was born on August 5, 1929, the son of the late Chester and Mabel Mae (Taylor) Alverson. On December 31, 1947, David married Myrna Siewert in Wautoma. He worked for the Wisconsin Gas Company for over 40 years. David loved showing his beloved, black, 66' Lincoln Continental, aka, Official Mafia Staff car, at area car shows. In later years, he was unable to drive his car, but his friends still remained. He thought of them often. Thank you. David was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed get togethers with family and friends to watch the races in his garage. He also loved polka music and played the accordion with several bands in his earlier years.
David is lovingly survived by his wife, Myrna Alverson of Appleton; children: Maye (Gary) Claas of Fitchburg, Maxine Williamson, Myrna (Jerry) Maerz of Arena, Theresa “Terrie” Alverson-Frassetto and her husband, Steve Frassetto of Appleton, David (Teresa) Alverson of Cottage Grove; grandchildren: Brian, Paul, Kathy, Sarah, Bob, Nick, Randy, Wayne, Anna Mae, Rachael and Emily and 11 great-grandchildren. David is preceded in death by his infant sister, his brother, Carl Alverson and great-grandchildren: Ashanteana and Quintin Sonkowsky.
A funeral service for David will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at East Oasis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in David's name.
David's family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Lynn and Darrel Allen as well as Dr. Goggins and his staff as well as the nursing staff in the west wing of the 4th floor at St. Elizabeth Hospital for all their care and support for our dad and family.
My dad, my buddy, my friend is gone. I love you.
