There are not enough words to describe how hard it's been to have lost our beloved father, grandfather, friend and favorite human. He was the force that held us up and made us strong, taught us so very much and was always there for us . He knew the answer to every question and if for some reason he didn't (which was rare) he found out the answer for us. So much love and so many adventures. He loved climbing mountains, going on walks, talking about books (he read a lot) football, baseball and rugby, car racing, watching sumo wrestling on tv, and playing games (he loved video games). He loved acting and was in some plays with the Attic Theater and Spotlight Players. He also loved his pets very much. He spent winters in Florida and had a woodworking shop both in Wisconsin and Florida where he made some beautiful creations! He was in the Army and was stationed in Japan where he climbed Mt Fuji, he was a patented Engineer and worked in the paper industry for his entire career which spanned 40 years. He travelled a lot with his job but also loved to travel for leisure. We loved to listen to his stories. He was so full of love and cared so much about people and the world.
David is survived by his two daughters, Deidre (Wayne) Kozlowski, Laura Page (Ken) Sasiadek; grandchildren: Charlotte (Greg) Radliff, Jason Radliff, Sarah (Brock) Kozlowski, Erik (Kaitlin) Sasiadek, Chad (Cheyenne) Sasiadek; and great granddaughter Sylvie. In addition, he is survived by inherited daughters: Carrie “Cookie” (Jerry) Serletic Williams, Dawn (Stuart Berger) Steiner and Sherrie Mayo; his inherited grandchildren: Stephanie Hagan and son Elliott, Grant Mayo, Christine Mayo, and Alexis Hagan as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Judith; his life partner Barb; son Major Jonathan Phibbs; grandson David Sasiadek; and his parents.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday September 6, 2025, at 4:30pm, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N Superior Street. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 3:00pm until the service begins.
David will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery, Castleton-on-Hudson, NY.
He was the best dad, papa and grandfather, father-in-law, uncle and friend any of us could ever have asked for and we will miss him and honor his memory always!
