David John Fischer

David J. Fischer, 89, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025. He was born on February 3, 1936, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of Harvey and Arvilla (Mumford) Fischer. David was united in marriage to Sandra Winters, on January 12, 1956, and she preceded him in death on June 25, 2009. In 2011 David married Dale Odom and she preceded him in death on September 11, 2018. He served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1957. David was a volunteer firefighter in Hamburg, Michigan for 20 years. He enjoyed driving and restoring antique John Deere tractors and volunteering with R.V.I.C.S during his retirement. He will be remembered most for always having a story to tell and his constant tinkering on projects over the years.

David is survived by 5 children: Brad (Cindy) Fischer, Penny (Wes) Dodrill, Kevin (Melissa) Fischer, Kim Barber, and Scott Fischer; many grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and a great great grandchild; brother: Fred (Vonnie) Fischer; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wives and parents, David is further preceded in death by 2 children: Terrie Mahor and Diane Strong; and 3 siblings: Robert Fischer, Marvin Fischer, and Phyllis Wrigley.

Funeral services for David will be held at 4PM, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Wichmann Funeral Home,537 N. Superior St., Appleton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:30PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

David’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Kaukauna Fire Department and the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton for their care, compassion, and kindness.
