Daniel Robert Miller, 68, of Little Chute, WI, passed away on March 22, 2026. He was born on April 10, 1957, in Neenah, WI, to Robert and Marjorie (Hermsen) Miller.
After high school, Dan built a working life that took him through several jobs over the years, including Drainage Industries and Valley Packaging, both in Appleton. Though he never married, Dan poured his heart into the people around him, his family and the many friends he made along the way.
From an early age, Dan had a tinkerer's instinct and natural curiosity. He loved working with electronics, from radios and watches to battery-operated gadgets of all kinds, and channeled that same patience into crafting leather goods by hand, turning out wallets, eyeglass cases, and other small items he took real pride in. Dan was also an enthusiastic collector, and nothing caught his eye quite like Cubs gear. His collection of Chicago Cubs caps and shirts was a point of personal pride and a reflection of his lifelong loyalty to the team.
Music was another constant in Dan's life. He carried his radio with him just about everywhere, always ready to catch some Elvis or a good stretch of oldies. One of his most remarkable qualities was his memory. He could recall birthdays, special occasions, and details from years past with an ease that amazed the people who knew him. That same sharp mind served him well at card and dice games he loved to play, where he was a formidable opponent. When nickels and dimes were on the line, Dan usually walked away the winner.
Dan made friends wherever he went and genuinely enjoyed their company. His good friend Brian made a regular habit of bringing Dan along on outings to stores and restaurants, trips Dan looked forward to and treasured. In his later years at his assisted living facility, Dan became a familiar presence, rolling through the hallways in his wheelchair to check in on residents and staff alike. It earned him the nickname "Hot Wheels," a title that fit him perfectly given his lifelong love of cars. His room reflected that passion, with posters and model cars proudly on display.
Dan will be deeply missed by his mother, Marjorie "Marge" Miller; his siblings, Mary Lee Danielson (David) and Kristine Pavletich (Brad); and his nieces and nephew: Elisabeth (Danielson) and Joey Smith and their children, Scout and Sawyer; Erik Danielson and Liz and their children, Audrey and Eli; Laura (Danielson) and Michael Young and their children, Maisy and Emmett; Elisse (Pavletich) and Isaac Dzubay; Rob Pavletich; and Matthew Pavletich.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Miller; and his brother, Michael.
In keeping with Dan's wishes, a private memorial service will be held for the family.
Dan's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his guardian, the staff at his assisted living facility, and his hospice team for the care and compassion they showed him.
