Daniel George Kenneavy, age 20, entered eternal life on Saturday, December 12, 2009 in Muntinlupa City, Philippines, following a courageous, 3-1/2 year battle with osteosarcoma, a rare cancer.
Dan was born March 29, 1989, in Appleton, Wisconsin to Roger and Dawn Kenneavy. Dan attended Catholic Central Grade School, St. Joseph Middle School, and Xavier High School (Class of 2007). His cherished memories at Xavier included foods class, working on theatre productions, and being a member of Hawkswing. Dan intermittently attended classes at UW Fox Valley when his health and treatment schedule permitted.
Dan enjoyed camping, boating, working with his hands and driving his Saab. He also treasured time spent at campfires in Matt's backyard, going to car dealerships with his brother, and spending time with his sister. He looked forward to being cancer free, finishing his education, and moving forward in life with plans to become an occupational therapist in order to help others overcome adversity in their lives too. Dan also dearly loved his faithful Springer Spaniel, Scout.
Dan is survived by his parents, Roger and Dawn Kenneavy of Appleton: a brother: Ryan Kenneavy of Appleton; a sister: Erin Kenneavy of Appleton; his paternal grandmother: Audrey Reininger of Aurora, Illinois, and his paternal step grandmother: Phyllis Kenneavy of Commanche, Iowa. There are also several aunts and uncles: Mary Anne and Ken Urlakis, Colgate, Wisconsin and their family; Nancy and Brian Griffin of North Aurora, Illinois; Sherry and Dick Kenneavy of North Aurora, Illinois and their family; and Carol and Kurt Fetzer of Aurora, Illinois and their family. Also, Tom & Lori Kenneavy & family of Commanche, IA, Kevin & Stacie Kenneavy & family of Commanche, IA, Tom Galbraith of Hartsell, AL, and Kathy & Robert Rhey, Pleasant Prairie, WI. We would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and organizations that have been with Dan through his treatments – Children's Hospital of Milwaukee, especially Amy and Shelly, and all the nurses, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, especially Dr. Anderson and all the clinic nurses. Also, all of the doctors, nurses and staff from Epeius Biotechnologies in both San Marino, CA and in the Philippines, who gave up their weekends to spend time with Dan to ensure he was as comfortable as possible at his home away from home, and to pray over him as his time on earth came to a close. F
Finally, we thank all of our friends and family who have supported Dan and our family in so many ways through this journey.
While the disease took Dan's youth, it never stole his faithfilled spirit. May he live joyously forever more in the house of the Lord.
