Daniel A. Limpert, Sr.

Dan Limpert, age 87, passed away at Carolina Manor on Friday, March 11, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Dan was born in Marshfield on December 23, 1923, son of the late Charles and Leona (Stueber) Limpert. On January 26, 1946, he married the former Mary Ann “Karly” Karls in Sheboygan Falls; she preceded him in death in 2003. Dan served his country as a member of the United States Navy, and was fortunate to have survived the sinking of two vessels. Dan was employed at Pierce Manufacturing, then went to work as a bartender at George's Steak House in Appleton. Later, he bartended and managed at the Left Guard in Menasha. In his later years he worked in the maintenance department at St. Elizabeth Hospital, and in retirement enjoyed working as a jack of all trades for his son-in-law at Watters Plumbing. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, the F & AM, and served on the Executive Board of the NFL Thousand Yard Club. He was an avid cribbage player known for his knuckling, and his love for the Packers.

Danny is survived by four children: Judy (Bill) Walker of New Castle, Colorado; Gary (Barb) Limpert of Appleton; Scott (Deb) Limpert of Appleton; and Kelly (Cal) Watters of New London; a daughter-in-law: Pat Limpert of Neenah; eleven grandchildren: Tim (Barb) Hanson, Mike (Amy) Hanson, Tracy (Rick) Felten, Jim (Simone) Hanson, Tyler Limpert, Jamie Limpert, Jessica Limpert, Amanda Siebers, Nick Siebers, Rhonda (Matt) Ziegler, and Adam Limpert. There are also six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. He is also survived by a half-sister: Carol and a brother-in-law: Laverne Karls, both of California; and by his very special friend: Dolores Yingling, son Greg, daughter Laurie, and grandson Jake. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, a son Dan Limpert, Jr., a grandson Ryan Limpert, his wife Karly, and two sisters: Helen (Art) Kalk and Luella (Willard) Hoffman.

A memorial service for Dan will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel in Menasha. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and again at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Carolina Manor, especially his co-bartender Krista, and to Theda Care at Home for all of their loving care and support. He loved you all.

Dad, you were one of a kind, and loved by all. You will be forever missed. Thanks for all of the memories.
