Corinne J. Gabel

Corinne Joyce Gabel (Black), age 95 of Appleton, WI joined her heavenly kingdom on January 17, 2024 at the Heritage in Appleton.  She was born July 21, 1928 in La Crosse, WI, the daughter of Oswald and Ruby (Larson) Black.   She graduated from Logan High School in 1946 and worked as a medical stenographer until her marriage to Duane “Bob” Gabel in La Crosse in January of 1949.  

Corinne joined the First United Methodist Church in Appleton in 1950, where she served on various boards and commissions and also held offices in United Methodist Women.  She was a member of the Appleton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Riverview Country Club.  

Corinne is survived by her husband, Bob; her children, Steve (Sara) Gabel, Barbara Gabel (Zach Zachowski), and Brian Gabel; her grandsons, Ryan and Craig Gabel; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.  

Corinne was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Delores (Harlan) Peters; her brothers, Ronald (Harriet) Black, Donald (Louise) Black, Kenneth (Lila) Black, and Damon (Bonnie) Black.  

A funeral visitation will be held for Corinne on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 10-11 AM at First United Methodist Church, 325 E Franklin St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a funeral service to follow at 11 AM.  Corinne will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton following the service.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to First United Methodist Church in Appleton, the Salvation Army, or to LEAVEN Fox Cities.
