Chub Hansen, age 88 of Appleton passed away at his home after a brief illness. Chub was born in Kimberly and October 17, 1933, son of the late Clyde and Lucille (Wynboom) Hansen. Chub was baptized, had his first communion, was confirmed, and now will be buried, all from Holy Spirit Parish.
He was a 1952 graduate of Kimberly High School, and married his high school sweetheart, Joan Never on April 21, 1956. Together they had one daughter, Linda Lee Loewenhagen. He is also survived by a granddaughter: Amy Aumend. His great-grandchildren are Gavin and Ava Aumend.
Chub was in the National Guard for nine years, he also worked at the Appleton Post Office, Western Condensing, Huss Excavating, and finally was employed by (Mid-Tec) Kimberly Mill for some thirty-three years. Chub retired in 1995 to build his dream home on Pelican Lake. He and Joan enjoyed their retirement there until 2021.
During his time up north Chub loved fishing, deer hunting, snowmobiling, and puttering with just about anything. Spending time on his bass boat or his pontoon was always enjoyable, but he especially enjoyed riding his tractor around taking care of his lawn and snow removal - he cut his own lawn right to the very end.
The funeral liturgy for Chub will be held at 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Parish, located at 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly. Burial with full military honors will take place at the parish cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather directly at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jack Anderson, ThedaCare at Home Hospice, and the caregivers that took care of Chub since his illness. We will forever remember your kindness.
Dad, please know that you were my best friend as well as my loving father. I will miss you greatly. Rest in peace, dad, until we meet again. -Your one and only, Linda.
