Pullman's Restaurant
1:00 - 4:00 pm (Central time)
Dear Family and Friends,
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Charles Kendall Scott, who died peacefully March 26th at Silverstone Memory Care, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife Jan and his children Teri and Jeff.
Ken was born in Shawano, Wisconsin, on February 27th, 1944, to Mabel and Bruce Scott. He grew up in Harvey, North Dakota where he attended school and helped his parents at their family-owned Ben Franklin store.
After graduating from high school in 1962 Ken attended North Dakota State University and earned a business degree from Moorhead State College. He proudly served six years in the North Dakota Army National Guard.
Ken and Jan met in Fargo, North Dakota in 1964 and were married in August of 1966. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this summer. Professionally Ken had a successful career with Valley Bank Corporation, eventually serving as President of Valley Systems, the data processing center he helped launch. Then in 1999 Ken and Jan opened Pro Golf of Appleton which they owned and operated for fifteen years.
A lifelong ski enthusiast, Ken shared his passion for the sport with his entire family. They enjoyed many ski trips to northern Wisconsin and the Colorado Rockies. He was a dedicated music lover; a trumpet player and a piano player as well as teaching himself to play the guitar. In retirement Ken found great joy playing golf with Jan and his many golf friends.
Ken is survived by his wife Jan and his children Jeff (Ilana) Bloom and Teresa “Teri” (Jason Henderson) Minks. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Casey (Rebecca and son Jayden) Minks, Ahneo Bloom and Mirabel Bloom. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Jeff (Carmen) Karch, Jason (Vicki) Karch and Tom Coulter, as well as nieces and nephews and cousins. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Bruce Scott, his sister Kathy Coulter and his parents-in-law Agnes and Fred Karch.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the people who helped us during the final months of Ken's life. Our family is especially thankful to Dr. Craig Hendel, Ken's doctor for many years, as well as the staff of Moments Hospice, Silverstone Memory Care and Senior Helpers for their compassionate and dedicated care of Ken. Ken's family invites you to join them for a celebration of Ken's life on:
