Charles DuChateau, age 81, died at his home on April 1, 2009. Chuck was born in Appleton on November 30, 1927, son of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (LaRoche) DuChateau. In 1950, Chuck married the former Delores “Lorrie” Van Handel. He is survived by his wife: Lorrie DuChateau of Little Chute; two children: Sharon DuChateau of Appleton and Chuck (Cheryl) DuChateau of Concord, North Carolina; two grandchildren: Laura (Jason) Kauth of Menasha and Michael Grapentin and his fiancée Shanna Saario of Neenah; two great-grandchildren: Izabella and Noah Kauth; two sisters: Rita (Florian) Hein of Appleton and Mary (Walter) McCanna of Rochester, New York; a sister-in-law: Joyce Williamson of Kaukauna; and six brothers-in-law: Merrill (Marion) Van Handel of Green Bay; Richard (Helen) Van Handel of Appleton; Jerome (Arlene) Van Handel of Oshkosh; Ivol (Myrt) Van Handel of Three Lakes; Donald (Marge) Van Handel of Little Chute; and Gordon (Dorothy) Van Handel of Menasha; there are also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Hubert (Dorothy “Dot”) DuChateau, and a brother-in-law Gordon Williamson.
The funeral liturgy for Chuck will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 12:15 PM until the time of the mass at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Chuck's name.
