Cecile Mary Lingnowski

December 18, 1927 — May 21, 2022

Menasha

Cecile M.  Lingnowski, age 94, passed away at Oak Park Place on May 21, 2022.  She was born December 18, 1927 to George and Monica (Gracyalny) Swiechowski.

On September 11, 1948 she married Raymond Lingnowski. Raymond passed away April 14, 1985 after a marriage of 36 years.

Cecile was a lifetime member of St. John the Baptist parish in Menasha and belonged to the Rosary Society there. She led saying the rosary for many years and also made baptismal gowns.

In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting and sewing. Many people close to her were recipients of her expert artistic skills. 

She and her late husband, family, and friends traveled and toured all the United States, Canada, and Europe, especially Poland where she visited relatives. One highlight was visiting the Vatican and being blessed by Pope John Paul II.

She retired from American Can Company where she was employed for 37 years as an executive secretary.

She is survived by her sister Patricia (Wayne) Krueger, sisters-in-law Sally (John) Swiechowski and Cleo (Hilary) Swiechowski, godsons Alan Grall and David Doutre, goddaughters Jane Hackstock, Marcia Lemmens and Stephanie Thiel, and many other nieces and nephews.

Cecile was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, brothers John Swiechowski and Hilary Swiechowski, sister Alvina Grall and her husband Paul, sister Mary Ann Doutre and her husband Alton, and her niece Bonnie Grall. She was also preceded by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in Raymond’s family.

A special thank you goes to the staff at Oak Park Place where she resided the last year and Theda Care Hospice for all their care and kindness.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held June 4, 2022 at 11:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Menasha, 516 DePere Street, Menasha, with Father Phil Schoofs officiating. Family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 9:00am until the service. Wearing masks would be appreciated. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Cecile’s name.
