Caryl Miers, age 88 of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Neenah. Caryl was born on September 8, 1936, in Appleton to the late Cornelius and Avis (Hawley) Vanden Boom.
She graduated from Appleton High School in 1954. Caryl worked in human resources at the American Can Company until she left to raise her two children. Later she went on to work as an executive assistant at the Kimberly-Clark Corporation until she retired. However, retirement was not for her, and she returned to work as a receptionist for the Community First Credit Union for another 10 years.
Caryl deeply loved her family. She always put others first, was very generous, loving, caring, and she had a positive impact on all of those who were blessed enough to have known her. She had a warm and vibrant personality.
Caryl enjoyed playing games, especially royal rummy and cribbage with her granddaughter. She loved chocolate, dancing, fishing, and downhill skiing. She also enjoyed watching Hallmark movies and the Green Bay Packers, but most of all she cherished spending quality time with her family and friends.
Caryl is survived by her children: Sandra (Paul) Brewer, Scott (Jennifer) Miers; granddaughter Kyra Eaton and Kyra’s father, Jeff Eaton; niece and nephew: Cathy (Gary) Detherow and Jim Jawson; and many dear friends and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Elaine Jawson, brother-in-law Bruce Jawson, former husband Robert Miers, her special friend and dance partner, Roger Hanus; and other loved ones.
