Carole V. Baxter

Carole V. Baxter, age 88, formerly of Freedom, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Carole was born in Shawano County, Wisconsin, on September 13, 1935, daughter of the late Russell and Doris (Borchardt) Smith and attended school in Wittenberg.  Carole married Marvin Baxter and together six children.

Her pride and joy was crafting children’s toys at Chilton Globe Toy Factory in Seymour – everyone will remember her for those years. She also enjoyed crafts of all kinds and making doll clothing for her children and grandchildren. When her health permitted, she enjoyed walking.

Carole is survived by six children: Susan (Mike) Williams, Jeff Baxter, Tammy Smits, Tracie Baxter, Todd (Tammy) Baxter, and DeDe VanKauwenberg.  There are sixteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband and father of her children Marvin Baxter, a sister Donna, a son Mark Smith, a grandson Kye Baxter, and an infant great-grandchild.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Shepherd’s Inn in Seymour as well as the staff at Compassus Hospice.  You were all caring angels and we will never forget your kindness. 

A private service at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Neenah is being planned for a later date.
