Carol J. Hoppe

Carol Hoppe, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.  She was born in Wausau on February 6, 1945, daughter of the late Grover and Lavida (Lillge) Werner.  She attended high school where she was a classmate of one Karl Hoppe.   They went their separate ways after graduation, only to reunite many years later, and married in 1990.

As a young woman she worked as a carhop at a soda shop, and later was a member of the Walther League and the Girl Pioneers. She loved children, and spent most of her life working or operating a day care center, or just caring for the little ones in one way or another.

Carol is survived by her husband: Karl Hoppe; three brothers Marlin “Bud” (Eleanor) Werner, Tom (Renee) Werner, and Dan (Sue) Werner; a sister-in-law: Yvonne (Gerald) Hurley, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The Christian Funeral Service for Carol will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, located at 302 N. Morrison Street in Appleton.  Rev. Kenneth Frey will officiate, and interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
