Carol Ann Felton

Carol Ann Felton (Rudolph), age 88, of Appleton, WI was called from this life to eternal life with the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2023.

Carol was born on December 30, 1934 in Wabeno, WI to the late Vivian (Al) and Florence (Garrity) Rudolph. She was the youngest of eight siblings. Carol married Ken Felton on May 4, 1954 at St. Edward Church, Mackville, WI. Carol and Ken loved each other in good times and bad, in sickness and health for 66 years. Together they owned and managed Westland Villas and other apartment complexes. Ken preceded her in death on May 13, 2020. As dad’s funeral Mass was private because of Covid restrictions, the funeral Mass for mom on August 3, 2023 will be a public celebration of both of their lives.

Carol was a loving, fun and talkative person of Irish heritage, including being named Irish Rose of the Year. She was a master conversationalist. Carol could strike up a conversation with anyone, at any time, for any reason, and she did! As a result, she had many circles of close friends, a deep love of her family, and a prayerful relationship with her God.

Carol was very active with many civic and parish organizations in Appleton and at St. Edward parish. She especially enjoyed her volunteer hours at the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Most of all, Carol was a loving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her five children: Bishop Dan Felton, Therese (Craig) Rilling, Mary (Tom) Mentele, Jenny (Paul) Bonikowske, Peggy (Gary) Vaubel; grandchildren: Matt Mentele, Mark (Annie) Mentele, Paul Mentele, Charlie (Kristen) Rilling, Betsy Rilling, Megan Bonikowske, Rachel Bonikowske and Ramona Vaubel; great-grandchildren: Cole Rilling, Carson Rilling, Jude Rilling and Alvin Mentele; sister-in-law, Shelby Felton and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; her parents; brothers and sisters: Donald (Lillian) Rudolph; Kenneth Rudolph; Bernice (Ray) Derrah; Leslie Rudolph; Wilbur Rudolph; John (Betty) Rudolph; Anita (Harry) Look; Leonard (Bernice) Rudolph and in-laws: John and Pearl Felton and James Felton.

The funeral Mass of Resurrection will be held at 5:30 PM on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville. Visitation will take place at the church on August 3, from 3:30 until the time of the Mass. Because Carol was a great cook and baker on so many occasions through the years, there is a dinner in the St. Edward social hall following the Mass and burial.

The family especially wishes to thank her best friend, Joanie Schumacher, high school friends, card playing friends, swim bunch, bowling teams, barbershop friends and parishioners for their support of Carol throughout her life; and the staff at Willow Lane Assisted Living for their dedicated care of mom in the last years of her life.

In lieu of flowers, Carol's family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Edward Parish and the St. Vincent de Paul Society in her memory.

The funeral mass will also be live-streamed, and to view the liturgy on August 3, please follow this link:     LIVE STREAM | St. Edward (stedwardmackville.org)
