Carol Ann Bloemer

October 22, 1957 — December 25, 2025

Appleton

On Christmas day 2025, we said farewell to Carol, a social worker, community advocate, and a lover of our senior population. Carol, age 68, passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.

She was born on October 22, 1957, in Milwaukee, to Don and Jacqueline Hoganson. She lived much of her first 20 years in her beloved City of Mequon, where she enjoyed endless summer days at the city pool and building lifelong relationships at Crossroads Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Homestead High School in 1975 and began her pursuit of a social work degree from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, graduating in 1980. Her 36-year career began at the Milwaukee Jewish Home, then the Lasata Care Center of Cedarburg, Harbor House of Appleton, and finally leading the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program at the Volunteer Center of N.E. Wisconsin in Appleton. Carol then retired in 2020. In 1981, Carol met her future husband, Steve M. Bloemer, and they were married in 1984. They enjoyed 42 years together along with their pets, Jake, Murphy, Jack, and Cosmo who all made their household a home over the years.

While living in the Fox Valley the last 35 years, Carol has always enjoyed her membership at Memorial Presbyterian Church, serving on various committees, deacon roles, mission work trips, and developing wonderful friendships with other faithful that she cherished to the very end.

Carol will be missed by her husband, Steve M. Bloemer; her mother-in-law: Janice Bloemer; a brother: James (Deb) Hoganson; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Tim McCarthy, Bruce (Bonnie) Bloemer, Julie (David) Monroe, Kathy (Mike) Panarusky, Dr. Byron Bloemer, and Paul Bloemer; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Jackie Hoganson; a sister: Linda Gayle Hoganson; and her father-in-law: Robert Bloemer.

Carol’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Pastor Mike Goodwin and the visitation team of Memorial Presbyterian Church for their continued care. Thanks also to the staff of the Grand Chute Fire & Rescue Department, Brewster Village Rehabilitation Center and the Doctors and Nurses of St. Elizabeth Hospital.

At this time, the family is considering a summer 2026 memorial service.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” John 1:5
