Carol J. Behm

November 13, 1940 — October 20, 2022

Hortonville

Carol Jean Behm, age 81, of Hortonville, passed away in the presence of her loving family on Thursday, October 20, 2022 following a short battle with cancer. Carol was born on November 13, 1940 to the late Leonard and Vera (Van Heuklon) Reimer. On September 17, 1960 she was united in marriage to Eugene Behm. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2018.

Carol was an extremely hard worker her whole life. She started working at Bachall’s before she was married. She then worked for The Toy Factory in Hortonville and soon after started driving truck, picking up milk in the 1960’s. After the milk routes were sold, she started driving, delivering ice cream mix in the early 1980’s. By 1996 she became a self-made entrepreneur when she started The Twist in Greenville. She ran the ice cream shop for 23 years when she decided to retire at the age of 77.

Despite all her hard work outside the home, she always put her family first. She had an unbelievable love for her family and she cherished her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She would continue to make sacrifices for all of us, always putting her family first. Given she grew up on a farm, she had an amazing love for animals. She had her own hobby farm in which every animal was given a name, whether it was her cattle, sheep, pigs, horse or cats, she loved them all. She had a huge place in her heart for the family dogs as well. Her Bumper, Buddy and Bella were truly her kids as much as we were, and we mustn’t forget her grand-doggie Chester… her little wiggly worm.

Carol also loved bird watching, going away in the RV, traveling, listening to polka music and watching football. She gave to numerous charities and above all she loved the Lord. She was truly an amazing person with a huge heart.

Carol is survived by three sons: Mike Behm; David (Sarah) Behm; Dan (Holly) Behm; and a daughter Julie Behm, five grandchildren: Samuel (Avery) Behm; Mandy (special friend Matt) Behm; Samantha (Tanner) Hackl; Nicole Stock; and Benjamin Behm, three great-grandchildren, Lily, Clyde and Gus Hackl along with Bella and Chester and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Vera Reimer, her husband Eugene Behm, a sister Jenny Collar and two brothers-in-law Keith Collar and Butch Schommer, along with Bumper and Buddy.
