Carlton W. Dittmar, age 76, passed away at home on Saturday, August 9, 2014. He was born on May 10, 1938, and resided in Appleton. He was a lifelong member at Zion Lutheran Church and he graduated from Appleton High School in 1956. Carl proudly served his community by working for the Appleton Police Department for 30 years. He also worked for nine years for Have Group Will Travel. With his family by his side, Carl shared 44 years of memories at Shawano Lake. He also enjoyed many years of snowbirding at South Padre Island with his family.
Carl is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane Dittmar; children, Amy (John) Hein, William “Bill” Dittmar, Craig (Sally) Dittmar, and Laura (Doug) Dedering; grandchildren Alex Hein, Whitney Dedering, and Riley Dedering; sister, Mildred Powers; nephew, Gregory Aurand; and nieces, Katy Lamphere and Andrea Williams. He also had many wonderful friends, especially his morning coffee buddies. He loved his family and friends dearly, and his face always lit up when his grandchildren and granddogs were around.
Funeral services for Carl will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2014, at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 N. Oneida Street, Appleton, with Rev. Lloyd Luedeman officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
He will be greatly missed!
