Carl A. "Chuck" Kampf

October 6, 1935 — May 3, 2012

Carl A. Kampf, age 76, of Appleton, died of cancer at his home on Thursday, May 3, 2012 with his family at his side. He was born on October 6, 1935 in Appleton, the son of the late Carl J. and Nora (Mollineau) Kampf. On May 28, 1960 he married Jane Vander Wielen at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. Chuck was employed at Wisconsin Michigan Power Company (WE Energies) for 34 years, retiring in 1994. He had an adventurous nature and enjoyed backpacking, boating, camping, hunting, canoeing, traveling, dog sledding, cross country skiing, bicycling, riding his motorcycle, and scuba diving. Chuck loved life! He was an inventor in his shop and he was a “professional” taste tester of new foods. Being with his family was his greatest joy and he would say, “I have the best damn kids in the world.”

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 51 years: Jane Kampf; children: Kerry (Dr. Mark) Hoffmann of Wausau; Mark (Sarah) Kampf of Appleton; Ann (John) Vanden Wymelenberg of Wrightstown; and Kim (Roland) Schmidt of Wrightstown; grandchildren: Jeremy (Bethany) Hoffmann, Jacqueline (Chase) Anderson, Malinda Hoffmann, Joel Kampf, Adam Hoffmann, Julia Kampf, Alexandra Schmidt, Hunter Schmidt, Ryan Schmidt, and Noah Vanden Wymelenberg; great grandson: Bentley Anderson; his beloved sister: Mary Kampf of Appleton; brothers-in-law: Martin (Pat) Vander Wielen of Neenah; and Kenneth (Mary Ann) Vander Wielen of Gillett. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends. Chuck was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Kampf.

The funeral liturgy for Chuck will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street, Appleton. Fr. Gerry Pehler, OFM. CAP. will be officiating. Interment will take place at the parish cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Wichmann Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again at the church from 9:30 am until the time of mass. A prayer service will take place on Tuesday at 7:00 pm with Deacon Mark Farrell. Online condolences can be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.

The family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Goggins and staff at Affinity Hematology and Oncology, along with Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice and staff, especially Phil, for their excellent care and compassion.

And the Lord replied, “My precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you only see one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”
