Robert Karl Miller, age 89, of Appleton, passed away quietly on July 17, 2023. Bob was born on December 24, 1933, in Appleton, son of Leo and Gertrude (Lehrer) Miller.
Bob enlisted in the Army in 1959, and shortly after his return he began work at Neenah Foundry. He retired from Thilmany Paper Mill after a 30-year career. Bob married Marilee Elizabeth "Liz" Goffin in a ceremony at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on April 8, 1967. Bob remained a member of St. Thomas More until his passing.
In his youth, Bob was fond of participating in motorcycle races as well as going on rides with his club, which was the catalyst to a life-long love of motorsports. He took his son to stock car races throughout Wisconsin and enjoyed learning about and sharing the history of each track. During the summer, Bob could be found up at their cottage on Lower Clear Lake, where he would spend time relaxing, fishing and working on small projects. Often, you'd catch him smiling as he watched the wildlife, a sign of how much he loved all God's creatures.
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years: Marilee; and their son Michael (Tammy) Miller. He is further survived by his siblings: Thomas (Donna), Norman (Diane), Christine Chapman, Louise, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Hugh, Richard, Deloris, Perie, Ruth, Gertrude “Sandy”, Imelda “Mickey”, and Anne.
The funeral liturgy for Bob will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, Appleton. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Condolences may be expressed at www.wichmanfuneralhomes.com
