Beverly WIlma Verbruggen

Beverly Wilma Verbruggen (Van Stiphout), age 87 of Appleton, WI passed away at Care Partners Assisted Living on January 5, 2026.

Beverly was born on November 3, 1938, to Julian and Irma (Schiefelbein) Van Stiphout. She was united in marriage September 28, 1957, to Donald Verbruggen. They had celebrated 35 years together when Don passed away.

Bev lived on a farm in Kaukauna, WI until the family moved up the road into town. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1957. Her and Don loved camping. When the kids were young, they had various pop-up campers and would take the family camping all over Wisconsin. Once the kids were grown, they had a permanent camper in Bonduel where they spent most weekends and vacations with all of the friends they made at the campground. Bev and Don enjoyed fishing when they were at the camper, and she always had to have a towel to remove the fish from her hook. She did not like to take the chance of getting cut by the fins on the fish. They also enjoyed Country and Western music, making several trips to Branson, MO with friends. Bev was very much into crafts. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She loved to play bingo and would go to various casinos with friends. She also played bingo at multiple churches here in town. Putting together puzzles was a passion and she always had one in progress on a special table made just for that purpose.

She is survived by her daughters Joan (Albert) Allen and Julie Verbruggen, her son James Verbruggen; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother Thomas (Wanda) Van Stiphout; sisters Shirley Loritz and Noreen (Steve) Van Daalwyk; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bev was preceded in death by her husband Donald, her parents, her son Joey, and brother-in-law Ambrose Loritz.

There will be a funeral service for Bev on January 24, 2026, at Wichmann Funeral Home 537 N Superior St. Appleton WI. Visitation will be from 11am to noon with the service starting at noon.

Mom loved to dance and now she is reunited with her dance partner. We wish her luck in getting dad to “cut a rug” with her. We love you mom!!
