Obituary

Beverly June Arno, age 87, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on May 12, 2026. She was born on June 16, 1938, to the late Clarence and Myrtle (Joubert) and spent her youth in Wittenberg along with her three sisters. On New Year’s Eve a young man named Frederick Arno planted a kiss on Bev and the rest, as they say, is history! Despite having known each other throughout her high school years, that act was the one that sparked their love! They married, moved to the Fox Valley and began a family.

For years in the Arno household football watching was not on the list of Sunday activities. Perhaps it was because Fred was often hunting and fishing on weekends. However, on or about 1992, Bev turned into a hard-core fan and she and Fred went every week to the Larry McCarren show! They were such regulars that they had a reserved table and Larry called Fred “the Yukon Moose.”

Bev was an avid and state-ranked bowler. She had great skills on the lanes and had multiple “300” games throughout her life. She and Fred enjoyed traveling the county in their motor home. They really enjoyed the challenges and adventure of hitting the road and going to new places.

Bev loved to share her gift of baking with family and friends. Her wonderful neighbors were often the recipients of those tasty treats. She had a rare ability to absorb new people into her world and make them feel like family. She had many “adopted” grandchildren from the neighborhood who truly were like her own!

Bev is survived by her son Todd (Sally) Arno, daughter Tina Zeegers; grandchildren: Joshua (Vina) Zeegers, Kristin (Zachary) Uvaas, Kira (Donny) Gillett, Corey (Jared) Jungwirth, Shannon (Lucas) Burton; great grandchildren: Becky, Zoe, Talan, Hudson, Benson, Ryleigh, Ellis; her sisters: Carla (Gene) Douglas, Lori Schmidt, as well as other relatives, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, her parents, her sister Shirley (Gene) Dobbe.

In spite of Bev’s protests (because she thought everything but shoes were frivolous expenses!) there will be a celebration cruise on June 15, 2026, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at the Fin ’N Feather Showboat, 22 W Main Street, Winneconne. Please plan to arrive between 12:30pm and 12:45pm in order to board the boat in time for departure.

Friends and family may also join us at the Lake Winneconne Park Barn, 498 Parkway Drive, Winneconne, beginning at 3:00pm that same day.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Bev with your presence to celebrate her with us, or share a plate of homemade cookies with a neighbor.
