Betty Becker

May 17, 1950 — March 15, 2026

Menasha

Betty Becker passed away peacefully at her home in Menasha, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born Elizabeth Ann Lemens May 17, 1950, to Arthur Lemens and Louise (Liebergen) Lemens in the farmhouse in New Franken, WI. Betty grew up in Dykesville, WI. As a child, she attended school in the Luxemburg-Casco district. Her younger years were spent helping with chores inside the home. After entering high school, Betty would help out with the chores in the barn. She graduated in 1968.

In 1971, Betty married Clem Carter. Soon after, their son Scott Carter was born. It’s no secret that the marriage was rocky, but it led her to being introduced to the love of her life, Eugene Becker, in 1978.

Eugene and Betty spent seven years together before tying the knot on June 11, 1985. By this time, they had already stepped into the roles of grandparents. With many more grandchildren to follow in the coming years.

In 1996, Betty became a mother again when she and Eugene adopted their granddaughter. It wasn’t too long after that they would become great-grandparents. Even great-great-grandparents through family extensions.

Betty loved to travel. Whether it was traveling to see family across the States or traveling the States to see the country. She enjoyed trips up to the cabin, and trips to see her aunt and cousins in Michigan. Visiting in-laws in Missouri, Texas, and Minnesota. Even heading out to Colorado to visit the great-grandchildren. At least once a month, Betty made the trip up to Green Bay to visit her mother and siblings.

Family was very important to Betty. Even if you weren’t family, you became family. Betty had a big heart. A kind, loving and very giving heart. She was a caretaker. There were a couple children she watched for friends that ended up calling her Grandma. Betty also took pride in her role as godmother.

Betty was a baker. For gatherings everyone looked forward to her treats. From her brownies to her cheese torte. From her Easter Bunny cake and angel food cake to her rosettes. The real joy came Christmas time when she enlisted the help of family to make her famous Christmas cookies.

Betty is survived by her children: Her son Scott Carter, her stepson, Mark Becker, and her daughter Amanda (Shaed) Buech; 14 Grandchildren; 18 Great-grandchildren; 3 Great-great-grandchildren; Her sister Rosella (Joe) Collin and her brother Kenneth (Janet) Lemens; Along with many cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents: Louise (Liebergen) Lemens and Arthur Lemens; Her sisters Ardella (Carl) Collins, Janice (Edward) Schultz, and her bother Fred Lemens; Her stepsons: Ronald Becker and Carl Becker; and one grandchild, Christopher Becker.
